Overview
A Design Engineer I is responsible for ensuring that assigned engineering/drafting/detailing jobs are performed efficiently, safely, and in a quality manner. The Design Engineer I is to support the Senior Design Engineers of the Engineering Department to provide the project manager (PM) with relevant technical support to complete the project in accordance design codes and project specifications. The Trainee Engineer will also work with the Project Leads and detailers to achieve project goals as needed.
Key Responsibilities / Essential Functions
Develops knowledge and skills in a specific practice area.
- Reads and applies standard techniques, procedures and criteria to perform a task or sequence of tasks for conventional projects.
- Reviews specifications for small and large projects as directed by Senior Design Engineer.
- Prepares and checks drawings
- Performs basic research and development
- Supports Design Engineer with bid design proposals, Project leads on drafting and help drafters.
- Functions for engineering department to support projects on all correspondence related to that project e.g. POS updates, Engineering folder set-up etc.
Education Requirement:
Minimum BS in mechanical, civil / structural or related engineering field
Prior Experience:
The applicant for the Design Engineer I should have 0-5 years of experience as a trainee design engineer.
