Overview
A Senior Design Engineer is responsible for ensuring that engineering design jobs are performed efficiently, safely, and in a quality manner. The Senior Design Engineer I is the primary contact within the Engineering Department with the Sales and Project Manager and will provide the stakeholders of the projects with relevant technical support to complete the project in accordance design codes and project specifications. The Senior Design Engineer I will work with the Team Leaders, Project Leads, Drafters and the Project Managers to achieve project goals.
Key Responsibilities / Essential Functions
- Technical expertise on all design engineering related projects:
- Bid Proposal Design
- New Tanks (Verified Design)
- Repair and Maintenance (Modification Design check)
- Interface with Products group on Dome Structural Design
- Provide training and guidance to design engineers on engineering calculations and HMT Best Practices and Work Process. Supervises design engineer.
- Represent Services Engineering in design related meetings.
- Applies a thorough knowledge of current principles and practices of engineering as related to the variety of aspects affecting the company.
- Preform Finite Element Analysis (FEA) using software like SolidWorks and/or Inventor
- Evaluates the need for outsourcing design work, interface with third party engineering and checking of deliverable to safeguard company’s interest.
- Schedule work load to meet ‘delivery on time’.
Education Requirement:
Minimum BS in Mechanical or Civil Engineering.
Preferred Requirement:
P.E. Licensed.
Prior Experience:
The applicant for the Senior Design Engineer I should have 5-7 years of experience as a design engineer .
